Hola y Bienvenidos!

As promised, I am doing a giveaway to celebrate the launch of my blog and to introduce you to my jewelry, Cadeau Gifts.

So many reasons to have this giveaway: the launch of this blog, my son's 3rd birthday and Mother's Day is just two and a half weeks from now...as if I needed any reason, right?

I will be giving away a personalized photo bracelet from Cadeau Gifts like the one pictured here ($35 value):

Here's what you need to do:

Go to my facebook page: Cadeau Gifts and like my page, if you haven't already.  Leave a comment on my giveaway post about something your mom has passed down to you that's very special in your heart!

Good luck!

Bienvenidos!!!!

Hola y Bienvenidos a Mi Hogar!
Hello and Welcome to Mi Hogar (my home)!

Today is a very special day.  I specifically picked this day to launch my blog because of its significance: my little angel, Andy, turns three years-old today!!!!  This blog is one of my birthday gifts to him because I had wanted to start writing again for so long.

You see, I have a degree in English, Creative Writing, and since graduating from the awesome University of Washington, I haven't done any writing of substance.  I paid my way through school cleaning houses and working as a Cocktail Server at the Four Seasons, now Fairmont Olympic Hotel, and I just fell in love with Hospitality.  The last day of school was the last table that I waited and was promoted to Concierge.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE being a concierge and I absolutely miss working at a concierge desk for a major hotel. My career has taken me to a few great hotels in the USA: The Cloister at Sea Island in Georgia, the MGM Skylofts and the Venetian in Las Vegas, the Hotel 1000 and now Hotel Nexus in Seattle...but I always wanted to go back to writing.  So, I decided it was about time I did just that: clean the rust off and write...

BUT, write about what?

Well, I was told to write what I know and what I'm passionate about.  Well, geez...I'm passionate about so many things!  So then, I would love to share with you my Mexican heritage by sharing recipes or places I love in my beloved Mexico.  I am a mom...who doesn't like ideas about things to do with the kiddos? Whether it's places to go, restaurants to try, crafts to make at home, you name it.

I also just started learning and using Essential Oils and I'm finding myself amazed at all the wonderful uses of these little oils...I want to make our lives a little healthier by ridding our home and bodies of chemicals in our foods and cleaning agents. I use doTerra oils exclusively because of their purity and I'll show you some awesome things you can do to make your home more natural.

Today, I would also love to introduce you to my family:

This little guy is my inspiration for writing this blog.  I was told when I was going through breast cancer treatment that I might end up infertile after treatment. "Don't get your hopes up," said my oncologist, but just over a year after my last chemo, I found out I was pregnant!  My illness changed my life tremendously both physically and emotionally and being able to become a mom was the greatest gift I could possibly receive after such an ordeal! This here is Andrew Roman Phillip, better known as Andy, and as I mentioned before, today is his birthday, Happy Birthday, my sweet baby!

This is my co-pilot in the Dores/Gomez Household, Nathan.  He's an incredibly good father to our son and he was my rock during my most painful moments of my treatment.  Thanks to him I was able to quit my job so I could fully concentrate on my treatment and I was also able to be a stay-at-home mom to my little Andy for the first two years of his life.  He's also a great support in all my projects, whether it's making jewelry with Cadeau Gifts, helping me with all the graphic design for it or supporting me with this blog.

And lastly, this is me, Lorena, your host and hopefully, your friend to be!

Ok, so I feel like I'm just dragging this so I'm going to stop here for now...I hope that you will comment and let me know if there's anything you'd like me to share with you in particular.  Or, if you want to criticize my writing...by all means, GO FOR IT!

Once again, Bienvenidos a mi Hogar...Hugs!
